Work could begin soon on the bridge on Interstate 75 over Cedar Creek Road in Bartow County, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
The agency has awarded a contract to Comanche Construction Inc. of Marietta valued at nearly $3 million dollars for the rehabilitation of the bridge. The work includes the installation of new bearings at two of the bridge abutments, hydro-blasting of the existing bridge deck and application of a new riding surface, removal and reconstruction of the back wall and edge beams, installation of new bridge joints, and painting of the existing superstructure.
The bridge rehabilitation project is scheduled to be completed by the end of August 2014, at a construction cost of $2,773,612.
Information on bridge work and lane closure schedules on this project will be forthcoming before work begins.
