Fourth of July: The Run Down

A holiday weekend full of community events is on tap.

When is the Fourth of July? It's a popular question, so here are all the details:

Friday, July 1

7 p.m. —

To be held in Friendship Plaza near the depot and city hall, for the third year, the ensemble will offer free patriotic music, including a few pieces in honor of th 150th anniversary of the Civil War.

Saturday, July 2

5 p.m. —

The summertime monthly offering, including hundreds of vintage cars, motorcycles, muscle cars and modern modified cars, returns to downtown in conjunction with another concert.

5 to 7 p.m. —

Parrot Island Band, a Jimmy Buffet cover band, is set to provide the entertainment during the free event.     

Monday, July 4

9 a.m. — Parade presented by the Cartersville Morning Optimist Club and WBHF — AM 1450

begins with the procession, which leaves , turns right onto Church Street, then continues to make a left on Bartow Street, left on Main Street, left on Stonewall Street and left on East Church Street. The parade ends at the church.

10 a.m. to nighttime— Entertainment, Activities, Food and Fireworks

Continuing the Independence Day celebration, will play host to a day full of entertainment, including a free concert at 8 p.m., and arts, crafts and food vendors. Activities for children include camel rides and a petting zoo.

To top it off, the annual fireworks display at the park after dark is courtesy of the city of Cartersville and Optimist Club.
