Only a slight chance of thunderstorms threatens an otherwise sunny and hot day, according to the National Weather Service.

While the high is expected to be about 94, it could feel as though it's as high 101. The low should be about 67.

Storms and showers could pop up, but mainly after 2 p.m.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook in effect for some time continues, warning that cloud-to-ground lightning, strong winds and heavy rain are possible.

Things You Should Know

• Wednesday for both Cartersville and Bartow Schools. Get the supplies lists and open house schedules . Open houses happen today and tomorrow!

• Georgia Department of Labor’s and the Bartow Employer Committee/Human Resources Council will host an employer luncheon-seminar on legislative laws passed by this year’s session of the Georgia General Assembly.

The event is set for tomorrow, Aug. 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cartersville-Bartow Chamber of Commerce, 122 W. Main St. in Cartersville. It will focus on updated information on laws passed by the legislature that is of primary interest to employers. It is designed for business owners, human resource managers, supervisors, and entrepreneurs.
