Christmas Parade, Jingle Jog Applications Being Accepted

The Cartersville-Bartow County Exchange Club is gearing up for its 2012 Christmas Parade and a related but new offering, the Jingle Jog.

A foot race down Main Street with participants dressed in their best holiday costumes is set to precede Cartersville's annual Christmas parade in 2012.

Keeping with tradition, the Cartersville-Bartow County Exchange Club parade, the proceeds of which benefit local children's charities, is set for 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, the first Thursday of the month.

New to the offering year is the Jingle Jog, a 1.4-mile foot race to benefit Advocates for Bartow's Children and help get the crowd ready for the main event.

Money raised in the parade, including registration fees and cash collected by The Bucket Brigade, will be donated to children’s charities of Bartow County including Advocates, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bartow County, Bartow Christmas Coalition and The Etowah Foundation.

"The Exchange Club organizes the Christmas Parade for the benefit of the community and anyone who would like to come out and watch the parade," according to the press release. " Exchange Club members would like to remind everyone to please bring $1 or your extra change for The Bucket Brigade that leads off the parade and has buckets for you to make your donation."
