Cartersville 'Comes Alive' with Food, Art, War

There's a lot going on this weekend. How busy do you want to be?

Where/When: A Taste of Cartersville and Arts on the Square will be in downtown Cartersville on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cartersville UNCORKED starts at 6 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy food and drinks from some of Cartersville’s best restaurants while you take in local art, art demonstrations, live music, street magicians and more. After the daytime event ends, participating restaurants will offer a progressive wine tasting!

Pricing: Admission and parking are free. Food samples range from 50¢ to $3.

Where/When: on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The run begin at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 9:30 a.m.

Why Go: Have a great day outside exercising and enjoying food, awards, prizes and entertainment while supporting a great cause. Proceeds benefit the AIDS Alliance of Northwest Georgia.

Pricing: Pre-registration is $20 for people 13 and older and $10 for children 12 and under. Day-of registration increases to $25 from $15. Register online.

Where/When: on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: has united with to bring you this special event. Learn about the Civil War via reenactments and presentations on weapons, uniforms, music, food and more.

Pricing: Adults: $5.50; seniors (over 65): $4.50; students: $4.50; active military free (with ID); group rates available

SOUTNERN VETS FEST

Where/When: Adairsville Middle School (100 College St., Adairsville, GA 30103) on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy an outdoor music event featuring artists such as country favorite John Berry, Babes Bayou, Three Minutes to Fame and more. There will also be guest speakers and a ride for motorcyclists starting at at 10:30 a.m. and ending at the event site. More details are available on the website. Proceeds benefit homeless veterans.

Pricing: $15 advance; $20 gate; $50 VIP; $20 ride

Where/When: WYXC Radio (1410 Highway 411 NE, Cartersville, GA 30121) on Saturday at noon.

Why Go: The station is celebrating its relaunch with a BBQ. Ribs, chicken and Boston butts prepared by all-star grillers make up the menu.
