5 Things: Beat the Heat

What do you need to know today? A lot happens in our not-so-little city, but we'll keep you informed.

1. The mercury is on the way up, according to the National Weather Service. Expect a high near 97 today with sunny skies and a low near 65.

Temperatures are expected to stay in the mid 90s through Saturday, when it should be about 91. A slight chance of thunderstorms persists Thursday through Saturday.

2. With the heat brings air that could be dangerous to some, necessitating the air quality alerts. Ozone concentrations are highest in the late afternoon and early evening, so limit outdoor exposure and exertion if you or your children fall in the sensitive group.
