Smoother Ride in Store for Motorists on Highway 61 in Cartersville

A Georgia Department of Transportation project includes 2.72 miles of milling and plant mix resurfacing on the state route in Cartersville.

Work could begin soon on resurfacing State Route 61 in Bartow County, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. It has awarded a contract to Bartow Paving Company Inc. of Cartersville, valued at nearly a million dollars for a construction project to resurface the highway, according to a press release. 

The project includes 2.72 miles of milling and plant mix resurfacing on SR 61, beginning west of Leake Street and extending to east of Felton Road in Cartersville.

The construction project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November 2014, at a construction cost of $934,511. Information on construction and lane closure schedules on this project will be forthcoming before work begins.
