Meant to encourage community residents to shop locally, a variety of entertainment has been scheduled to help put people in the Christmas spirit as they shop and dine in downtown Cartersville, according to the press release.

“The Chamber and DDA partnered to create this event last year, and though we dealt with inclement weather, feedback was positive both from downtown businesses and the various groups we had scheduled to perform,” DDA and Main Street Manager Tara Currier said in the release. “Our main goal is really to encourage people to Buy Bartow and support local businesses during the holiday season.

"Many might remember going ‘downtown’ as a child during the Christmas season, and we’re looking to recreate that nostalgic feeling. What better way to put you in the mood to finish up your Christmas shopping than with some great holiday performances by adults and children, as well as photo opportunities with Santa.”

In addition to Chamber President Joe Frank Harris Jr. announcing the winners of its coloring and essay contests on why students will Buy Bartow this holiday season, various other free entertainment will be offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The schedule includes:

• 11 a.m.—The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints adult and children’s choirs

• 11:30 a.m.—Hamilton Crossing Elementary School chorus

• Noon—Chamber announcing winners of coloring and essay contests

• 12:30 p.m.—Cartersville School of Ballet

• 1:00 p.m.—Pumphouse Players

• 1:30 p.m.—Woodland High School C.A.T.S.

• 2:00 p.m.—Saxophone quartet and low brass ensemble from Bartow Winds

Santa will be available for free photo opportunities—just bring your own camera—from noon to 2 p.m. in Friendship Plaza.
