Guest speakers John Morgan, Bibby Morgan and Victor Morgan will discuss the life of their uncle and Tuskegee Airman, John Henry Morgan.
Also in attendance will be Major Humphrey Patton, Jr., Tuskegee Airman and member of the 99th Fighter Squadron in World War II.
Patton was born in Michigan in 1919, graduated from Howard University and has on honorary doctorate from Tuskegee University. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor at a ceremony on March 29, 2007, at the Capitol Rotunda in Washington D.C., honoring the Tuskegee Airmen.
During the lecture, Patton will be presented with memorable recognition from Lynn Geddie, Communications director for the Coweta on Veteran’s Affairs/Air Force Association, Irongate Chapter (NY).
The lecture is part of a series on the Tuskegee Airmen of World War II that coincides with the current feature exhibition, “The Tuskegee Airmen: The Segregated Skies of World War II.”
The exhibit explores the history and heroism of the first African–American pilots to fly in combat during World War II and will remain on display at the BHM until March 17, 2012. Included in the exhibit is a section on John Henry Morgan, Bartow County’s own Tuskegee Airman.

More About Bartow History Museum
In addition to exhibits and programs, which include records, photographs and artifacts documenting the history of Bartow County for more than 200 years, the Bartow History Museum contains archives and research rooms.
The museum's collection begins at the time period when the Native American Cherokee were the area's primary residents. Interactive permanent exhibits detail settlement, Cherokee removal and Civil War strife. Exhibits also show the effects of global events, such as World War II, on Bartow County.
In 2010, the museum relocated to the 1869 Courthouse from its former location at 13 North Wall Street in Cartersville.
Programs include historical workshops, lunch and learn sessions, a summer camp, parents' nights out and a Thursday evening lecture series.
