To raise awareness in Bartow County and surrounding communities that colorectal cancer is the second leading cancer killer of men and women combined in the U.S., Cartersville Medical Center will host a colorectal cancer awareness event featuring the Prevent Cancer Super Colon.
At the event, guests will have the opportunity to tour the Super Colon and receive important information about colorectal cancer prevention as well as a free take home colorectal cancer test kit.
It's set to include healthcare professionals from The Hope Center and Northwest Georgia Oncology Center, including doctors Satyen Mehta and Madhurima Uppalapatti.
Cartersville Medical Center's event and activities are in partnership with the national Prevent Cancer Foundation Super Colon exhibit. Since 2005, the Prevent Cancer Foundation has crisscrossed the country with its Super Colon exhibit as part of a campaign that seeks to educate Americans that colorectal cancer is "Preventable, Treatable and Beatable!" The event is made possible, in part, through a grant from the Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition.
Colorectal cancer affects men and women of all races and is Preventable, Treatable and Beatable! The disease is preventable through screening and if detected early, it can be successfully treated 90 percent of the time. The Prevent Cancer Foundation encourages cancer prevention through research, screening and early detection of all preventable cancers, including colorectal, breast, skin, cervical, lung, oral, prostate and testicular cancers.
