We want to know what you think, both individually and collectively as a community. We'll show you a vacant building, and you tell us in the comments what should fill in the blank.
"For most of the city's firefighting history, a fire station of some sort has been located at the corner of Church and Erwin streets," according to the city of Cartersville's website. History came to an end with the fire department's recent move to the new public safety headquarters building on Cassville Road. The old Station 1, a two-story building that saw a 1979 addition to house modern-day fire trucks and equipment, was originally erected in 1917 and included City Hall and the fire and police departments. The bank-owned property now is listed for $360,000 and could accommodate six retail stores, but currently is configured for one tenant as a large space with artificial turf and smaller office, locker room and waiting areas. Once one of the main shopping spots in Cartersville—first with Woolworth, then Belk—and the long-time home to prime-time, high-school cruising, Cartersville Plaza sits with more than one-third of its space empty. Built in 1966 and renovated in 2003, Fred's, Rugged Wearhouse and Tuesday Morning now anchor the shopping center along North Dixie Avenue that holds a lot of memories. More than 50,000 square feet of its approximate 134,000 square feet are available in retail spaces ranging from 950 to 11,250 square feet, according to Shaheen & Company on showcase.com. Help us fill in the blank: What…

The 7,600-square-foot building on 1.24 acres near Carmike, the local movie theater, was constructed in 1954 and needs renovations, according to The Commercial Group of Georgia's Vann Vaughan, the sales broker. It comes with some equipment and is considered retail property with high traffic. Now it's your turn to fill in the blank! What should be here? Another restaurant or other type of business? Is this a…
