Cartersville's Booth Western Art Museum is opening its annual Artists’ Guild Exhibition today in the Borderlands Gallery. Booth Western Art Museum with a reception Thursday opened its annual Bartow County and Cartersville City Schools Elementary Art Exhibit in the Borderlands Gallery. Cartersville Downtown Development Authority has lined up a festive way for downtowners to welcome the month of May, with a variety of events and activities. April 29through May 4has been proclaimed "Flower Power" week in downtown. Sanders as Hamlet, local residents as extras and The Grand Theatre on the big screen. An asteroid Friday will pass Earth within the moon's orbit, flying lower than communications, weather and GPS satellites high above the planet, according to Space.com. Booth Western Art Museum is seeking participants for its Writing Through Art Literary Contest, an anticipated part of the Museum’s Annual Cowboy Gathering. The Geminid meteor shower 2012, the final major meteor shower of every year and likely to be the best, peaks overnight Dec. 13 until dawn on Dec. 14.
