Woman Walking on Highway 41 Was Hit Twice, Killed
Georgia State Patrol troopers say a dark blue passenger vehicle and a second car hit the Cartersville woman at Highway 41's intersection with Mac Johnson Road.
A woman who was walking along Highway 41 on a rainy night in Cartersville was twice struck by cars and killed, Georgia State Patrol spokesman Franka Young said.
Christina Mae Warner, 27, of Cartersville, died at the scene of the incident, which happened Tuesday shortly after midnight.
The driver of the second car to hit the pedestrian stopped and notified authorities, but the first vehicle to hit Warner, in the right lane, did not stop and left the scene, Young said.
The second driver described the hit-and-run car as a dark blue passenger vehicle. GSP's investigation continues.

Deacon, based off your comments, that because she was walking at midnight "in the rain"... it appears that you believe she got what she deserved. you are a judgemental idiot. It makes no difference why she was walking, unless I am mistaken, that in itself is not a crime and does not justify a hit and run... again, you are an idiot.

deacon 101: For your information, the children were not in her custody at the time of this accident. The family knows why she was walking down the road. THAT my friend is all that matters. The police are the ones that get to speculate, not you and your comment is an insult to her name. I am her older sister and I can say that she will be missed by all that ever had the pleasure to meet her. She was a great woman. I miss you already.

Prayers to the woman and her family and also to the second driver. I know I have a hard time seeing at night and let alone raining on top of being dark and then if I was to hit a person I would need therapy majorly. I do try my hardest to not drive when I have a hard time seeing though. I feel for all involved and they will eventually get the first driver in due time. This is just so horrible.

And not only was she a great person sister friend and mother she was a united states army soldier and it's not your place to question why she walking maybe she just wanted to collect her thoughts and he children was not with her that night. And what kind of sick person would question something like that when a person lost their life and left two babies behind how about the crazy person that. Hit her killed her and drive away question how someone could do that

I can't stand the thought that she is no longer with us. I knew her well and can say I know she was not up to anything wrong. I don't know what she was doing out last night walking, but sometimes she just did that! Even when we were teenagers we'd walk down MacJohnson together when I spent the night with her. Sometimes she just needed to clear her head. Love these judgmental morons!

I am sorry for the loss, but I don't understand the walking on 41. I almost hit someone last week walking on 41 near walmart in cartersville. He was walking right on the rt border and late at night you can't see someone. This guy was a idiot. Call a cab, or the police someone before you go walking on a road where cars are going 50 mph.

To the Family of Christina Mae Warner: I never had the pleasure of knowing Christina, but from all the wonderful things her family and friends have mentioned here, I know she must have been an amazing lady.
I pray, that with the help of Georgia State Patrol and the witness who made the right choice to stop to try to help and making the 911 call, and investigators on the case, the driver of the first car will be found and brought to justice.
I pray too, that God will keep Christina's family and friends in His loving care, to help them through this painful and stressful time. I promise to keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Be kind to each other.

Evil idiots!! How dare you question a victims circumstances. Christy is my cousin and its really hurtful to read comments blaming her for being hit by an insensitive cold hearted idiot who left her for dead like a dog & for some innocent person to run over her & have to live with that image for the rest of their lives. Not only is Christy the victim, but the second driver is as well. I realize accidents happen & had the first driver stopped & rendered aid instead of running like a coward there could be forgiveness. Maybe you folks that are passing judgement have never fallen on hard times or never made mistakes & are completely perfect! If so...judge on. If not...shut your face & God have mercy on you.

I worked with both San and Angel at Bartow Co. 911. They are wonderful people, dedicated to their family and Public Safety. They are dealing with the tragic loss of a child. A pain most of us will never experience.
Let me just say to those with such poor manners as to publicly make negativity comments...Christy was a victim..period. She was a Mother..Daughter..Sister..Friend..and a Solider. It is people like Christy (and her family) that allow you the freedom to make those comments. So tonight when you lie you head down in your comfy bed..in your warm house..feeling all kinds of safe..remember its because of people like Christy..the victim..that did nothing but take a walk..that you have the freedom to question what the victim of a tragic crime was doing in that situation. Sleep well..I know I will.

You know most of us are dealing with this the best way we know how, and if writing a comment about it then that is what we do it. I loved Christina as if she was my own child. She dated my Son for awhile and I have known her since she was 15. No I have not know her longer than most people but I loved her just the same her Mother knows this as well as her Family. No one has said anything about the people who actually stopped and called 911 because they did actually have the heart to do it not like the coward that hit her and left her like they did. I pray that they find who ever it was and they bring them to justice and Lord help me but I hope the do suffer. Enough said.

She died alone on the side of the road on a dark, cold and rainy night. Was it really neccessary to ask "why she was walking?" Can someone really be that insensitive? She never lived at the guest house Charlene. As her sister, I want to say thank everyone for the kind words, and as for the ones who want to judge and have negative things to say, shame on you. We are trying to understand and find peace in this time and you are asking questions that don't matter. What DOES matter is that she was hit and the person fled. That's what matters. I pray that no one ever questions circumstances around why any of your loved ones have passed. Rest in Peace sissy. Hold Chris tight, see y'all soon and watch over us down here.

In my rush and alarm, I didn't think to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of this young lady in this public forum. I was very touched by her story and I am genuinely saddened by this tragic event. May you all find comfort and peace in the sweet memories you have of her.
My question did matter, as through my efforts to save a troubled loved one who lived for a few months at the guest house, I saw a young woman who looked very much like Christina, associating with a bad person who drives a car ...a dark blue 4-door...that matches the description of the hit and run vehicle. My loved one had befriended this girl, and while he called her by a different name, her story matched circumstances in Christina's life.
I am in no position to judge. I only wanted to help by letting investigators know what I know, if the girl I saw might have been her.

I am a responsible school teacher. Last month my car broke down. I had to work until 8 pm due to conference. I could not find a ride home; had mi money for taxi; they are $40 here. Busses stop running at 7:00. I had to
walk home; the 14 miles. 8 miles of it was on a highway at night. I was so scared. I will never forget that situation I was in. God bless her for doing what she had to do. Thank God I didn't get hit while having to walk. By the way; I am also a mother. I walk if the situation calls for it. I have people depending on my income. I am so sorry for your loss. Christine was an old army buddy of my sister.

If you knew of cared for Christina, we all know you wouldn't be running your mouth right now. If all you want to do is slander her name, stay off of here. This is about finding her KILLER. no, simply repeating what I was told. And some I saw. Yes I do blame the army. If she had got the help she needed instead of harrassed she wouldn't have gotten discharged so soon. My intention was not to defame her by any means. I offer my condolences to her family and am very sorry for your loss. She was a good person but highly depressed about her situation and felt your family deserved an explanation maybe they can track it back and see if there are some benefits for her children. I do not know. I promise there was no intention of defaming her and yes most is heresay. Her good friend told me she jumped off the building. as little as she is the rails are high you have to stand on the side rails to fall off. You can't just fall. Either or I am not trying to get into your business as I am very sorry for your loss she made a wonderful impression as a mom, a soldier and a friend. She is not a bad person.

I don't know what storm she was on the path to deal with, or walk through. She may have been troubled, I don't know. What we do know is that she was hit and killed by hit and run drivers who need to be brought to justice. Everything else is secondary and should not be discussed here. Too many people here seem to take a perverse joy out of someone else's misfortunes. I don't know the woman but she was loved by her family. Pray for their healing.

I want to say thank you to everyone for their condolences. To others, I would like to say this: If this were your family member, how would you like these things being said? It hasn't been verified by a reliable source but your family member jumped off a balcony? To read some of these comments makes my heart sink. As her sister, I don't believe she would have jumped. Until some one with a badge tells me she did, I know she didn't. If you don't want to defame her name, then keep your mouth shut and your comments to yourself. You may know her or had worked with her but let someone post something like this on the internet about your family and you would be upset too. If you think we need to know something so badly, find us on Facebook and private message us. We just want her to come back home. We want to hear her laughter. That will never happen. Thanks again for your condolences. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!!

I didn't know this woman but as the mother of a soldier myself, I would like to thank her AND her family for her military service and their associated sacrifices. I would also like to extend my condolences to her family, especially her children. No one should have to grow up without a mother.
The circumstances of her death are horrible. I'm sure neither her family nor the people in the second care will ever be able to fully recover from those images. For that, I wish you all peace.
If there is ANYTHING that we could take from this, its the reminder to wear-light colored clothing &/or carry a flashlight anytime - rain or not - that we're going to be near a roadway after dark. I AM NOT saying or implying any of this was her fault - just if this tragedy helps save someone else, her death will not have been in vain.
Again, my thoughts and prayers are with her family!
