An altercation between the victim and homeless man led to the alleged stabbing death when the woman arrived home this morning, 11Alive reports. Her roommate received minor injuries.

Investigators are working to determine the nature of the relationship between the victim, a 29-year-old Caucasian female who lived in an apartment at Alexandria Landing, and the suspect in her killing, Lt. Mark Camp said by phone.

Police arrested an African-American man in his 20's in connection with the homicide, but the investigation continues. Camp said he had been staying at the apartment four days.

Authorities are working to notify the victim's next of kin.

There is a hole in our workplace at Townsend Park!!! Candace was not only a sweet, precious caring soul but a hard worker who put her patients first. We at Townsend consider this an assault to our family! We will miss her but know that she is in heaven with our Maker. Rest in Peace Candace, we all love you.
