Where to Recycle Your Live Christmas Tree in Cartersville

Keep Bartow Beautiful participates in the state's annual Bring One for the Chipper event, which diverts holiday trees from Georgia’s landfills by recycling them into mulch or using them as fish habitats in lakes and ponds.

Recycling live Christmas trees in Cartersville and Bartow County likely means providing fish habitat in Lake Allatoona.

Keep Bartow Beautiful participates in the state's annual "Bring One for the Chipper" Christmas tree roundup, which begins today and continues through Jan. 15. Since it launched in 1991, more than 4.8 million trees have been diverted from Georgia’s landfills and recycled into mulch or used as fish habitats in lakes and ponds, according to Bartow County's website.

KBB partners with a number of organizations, groups and volunteers "to recycle all the collected trees into fish habitat areas in Lake Allatoona," which promotes species diversity and provides cover "so that small fish can become big fish."

Recycle your live tree by dropping it off at any of Bartow's 11 collection sites, including several in Cartersville, which are set to reopen today, Dec. 26, and resume normal hours Thursday, Dec. 27. Here are the details:
