Weigh In: What Should Be in Old Sports Facility?
Tell us in the comments what you'd like to see in the vacant West Avenue building, which is part of an empty strip mall.
Built in 2008 when the recession began, Building 300 of a strip mall on Cartersville's west side once held an indoor sports facility. The 8,000-square-foot structure at 801 West Avenue is vacant and sits in an empty strip mall comprised of four buildings.
The bank-owned property now is listed for $360,000 and could accommodate six retail stores, but currently is configured for one tenant as a large space with artificial turf and smaller office, locker room and waiting areas.
Leave a comment below to help fill in the blank. What would you like to see in the space? Does Cartersville need another gym or sporting facility? Should this building house some other type of business? What should be there?

Due to the current economy, I would not hold my breath waiting for anything. Most of the new commercial will be going in down at LakePointe in the next few years, or along Main Street between I-75 and JFH Parkway.

A Hallmark Crown Store. I miss the one that was in the Publix shopping center. I understood it closed due to high rental costs. It stinks to have to go to Canton or Town Center to buy Hallmark products (and get Crown Reward points, which one doesn't get when buying Hallmark products at Publix, Kohls, and WalMart.)
