Last summer the Pro Wakeboard Tour returned to Acworth, and now Wake Park Atlanta has announced its plans to open a cable wakeboard park at LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center, which it says will be one of the country's largest and most unique.
Scheduled to open this summer, the park would encompass more than 17 acres and include a big lake with a full six-station Sesitec Cable System and two smaller lakes with cables powered by the Sesitec System 2.0, according to the company.
"This innovative multi-lake design will accommodate wakeboarders of all skill levels from beginners to advanced but the park’s signature will be an elaborate series of rails and obstacles," Wake Park Atlanta said on its website. "Many of the obstacles at the Atlanta park will not be available anywhere else in the United States and the custom obstacles will be the first of their kind in the world."
Called "the biggest thing Bartow has seen," LakePoint, a 1,380-acre mixed development is set to include a 262-acre sports complex that will play host to baseball, lacrosse and soccer tournaments and be surrounded by commercial development including restaurants, retail outlets, entertainment options and hotels.
The development is expected to bring thousands of jobs, a number of retailers, Braves Spring Training, and now, a wakeboard park, the name for which developers are holding a contest.
“In creating this facility, we’ve set out to build and operate one of the finest cable wakeboard parks in the world,” Austin Singleton, one of the principals in the wake park, said in a release. “We’ve brought together a team and the design to make that happen, and our location at LakePoint Sporting Community and Town Center is the icing on the cake.”
