The vacant building at 104 S. Tennessee St. in Cartersville once served as Schlotzsky's Deli, but is now vacant. What would you like to see in the 2,686-square-foot eatery with a drive through and patio?

Help us fill in the blank. Tell us in the comments what should be there now.

About this column: We want to know what you think, both individually and collectively as a community. We'll show you a vacant building, and you tell us in the comments what should fill in the blank. How about a Schlotzsky's? Does anyone know why it failed the last time? Bad management perhaps as opposed to low sales??

Old Navy would be awesome! Why haven't I heard of these restaurants you all are suggesting? What is Panera and Five Guys Burger and Fries? Where are nearest locations?

Panera is in Rome, as was Five Guys until they found out Steak & Shake was coming in, then they vanished. Nearest Five Guys is now in Acworth.

Marietta Pizza Company, Fellinis or Mellow Mushroom. Maybe an Olive Garden?

As for a restaurant, I would suggest Steak n Shake, Shane's Rib Shack, or Sonnys BBQ (or bring back the original Schlotzskys because I liked it)

But if I had to choose a retail store, I would welcome seeing Micheals (craft store), or Bath & Body Works

or...

turn it into something for teenagers to enjoy since they no longer have the bowling alley or skating rink

The closest Panera bread location that I know of is on 41 in Acworth where the super Target and Ross stores are. They have great sandwiches, breads and dessert. They are more pricey, not by much, than Schlotzsky's. I'm still wondering why the Schlotzsky's here closed. All one would have to do is have a couple of trucks with product show up there and a person would be back in business. In my opinion that location is too small for an Old Navy or Michael's

Five guys would be awesome. Its a really small building though. If it wasnt so small, a Tilted Kilt would be great.

Panera would be wonderful!! We were just talking about this building the other day. Seems like a great location, yet it has been empty the entire time, almost 6 years, we have lived in Bartow.

The last time I checked the rent was over $8000 per month. If that's true, it is going to have to be someone with high volume & profit. Who wants to take that on in this business climate?

Does anyone viewing this know who owns this property? Why would an owner pay the entire mortgage year after year than accept a smaller amount to defer the cost? 7 or $8,000 is a ridiculous amount of money for such a small spot in Cartersville in this economy.
