Vacancy Visions: Former Steins, Cafe
What should be in this historic building in downtown Cartersville? Tell us in the comments.
This historic, but longtime, largely vacant building in downtown Cartersville once housed Steins and later became Moon River Cafe and Brewery. What would you like to see in the old structure at 101 W. Main St. that in December was the scene of a multiple-alarm call for Cartersville fire crews?
Help us fill in the blank. Tell us in the comments what should be there now.

If Obama is re-elected we're going to need a bigger homeless shelter

With or without Obama I think you have the right idea. Inflation is only getting worse every day. I think a shelter sort of and a food kitchen for the poor and homeless. We need to take care of each other. The future does not paint a pretty picture. We have families going to bed hungry right now. If A few of us got together, we could make it work. Think about it. Let's do it.

Thanks Mike!
"Restored"? As we understand it the buildings interior burned in early December. It was then boarded up and sits disused. Not much of a restoration that we can see

I think I'm remembering correctly from our article on it that the fire department said the main floor sustained only water damage while the top floor was gutted. I was trying to find some history on the building, but had no luck. Please share in the comments if you have historic information or just memories of the old building. That kind of stuff is interesting to me and maybe some others as well!

It should be a kids museum sort of like the creative discovery museum in Chattanooga.

I think someone should make an Antique Restaurant out of it, and have Nothing but Antique prices, Example: a $1 to $$1.99 menu....,a $2 to 2.99.menu, a $3 to $3.99 menu and a $4 to $4.99 menu.. There would be so much business that this would be a Growing business and no money lost. For instance...... It cost approximately 5 Cents to make a cup of coffee, with a refill, that is 10 cents, so if you charge $1.25 for a cup of coffee with one refill, that is clear $1.15 and make the hamburgers 3, 4 ,5, 6 and 7 oz of meat, That is just an example, and if no one wanted to do that, An antique consignment shop would be good. and call it "mostly Antique" cause it would probably have furniture that wasn't antique because it wouldn't survive on just antique. JUST A THOUGHT. Marlynb .
