The teens & youth in this area need something to do. It would be great to see something geared toward them move in, especially since it's so close to the movie theater.

Steak and Shake or Outback Steakhouse.

It should be leveled and put up a roller rink or bowling alley or family center...miniature golf...have that area be the 'entertainment' area

La Cubana was a club on one side and a restaurant on the other. Never seen anyone eat at the restaurant, but the club did fairly well. They closed because they lost their liquor license after being open for several years. Not really a failure in my book, and proof that the right business can make it there. But from what I was told, the condition the building now sits in is such a mess, the best option probably is to tear it down and start over.

A bowling center/laser tag would be a great asset for Cartersville

This is one of the central problems of getting older. You remember too much. And much of what you recall is of only marginal interest to a declining population of folks, mostly your age and older.

I recall a fine BBQ place, 'Big Ric's', being at the same address some years back before the last establishment failed. I recall that gent (Ric) doing quite well with an improvised 'smoking pit' outside on his side porch, and even doing some deliveries too. Now this is back before the current Carmike recreation/redo and even before Slopes came to town. Possibly even a bit before Adams BBQ too. They did a really decent job with the BBQ, and the place was a favorite of ours for sometime, before he went out of course. I think we got one of his famous smoked turkeys for the holidays more than once. Of course the place was sort of a 'matched set' with a similar smaller establishment across the street, also done up in a brick ranch style. An old phone book tells me Child's Monument was there before it was torn down. But strangely enough the internets tell me that they're still there too.

So there you have it. If you want immortality, just be listed someplace on the net. For the rest of us, it's a dim hazy memory until someone does the history leg work. But the place has been sitting vacant & unused for some years. CFF's idea is as good as any. Thanks for the memories. JMP

Good memory Joe, but Rick's business declined dramatically after he moved to Tennessee Street from Highway 113 and he eventually folded shop. The last business to operate successfully there was Morrell's, but that was in the eighties way before any of the area's current competition cropped up.

Unfortunately, at that price, you won't be seeing a place catering to teenagers.
However, Vann is a good agent and he'll eventually figure out something if the seller is willing to work with a buyer.

Whatever it turns into, let's hope it is the highest and best use for the property so that business development is boosted on the rest of that Tennessee Street corridor.

Child's Monument was also owned by Morrell Perkins, but was located in the little brick house across the street that burned a few years ago. Before Child's, WYXC (then called WKRW) was located in the little brick house. It moved to it's present location around 1980 when the Frew's bought it. Also JM, Adam's BBQ has been around since late 70's or early 80's... was located up on 41 next to Meineke before it moved to Felton.

Memories memories, I remember when it was Morrell. I went to a sport banquet there in the 80s. I think it should be torn down and something built for our families to enjoy. If not that an Outback or a Olive Garden would be nice.

When it was a teen club I had to pick up my daughter for an emergency and walk in to see grown men that went to grown up bars hanging out with our teenage daughters. Needless to say it was the last time my daughter was in there and I advised a few wives if where their hubby perverts were at it didn't last long.

Haven't been in that building since it was Morrells, would be nice to see someone come in and save the place, maybe even a resturant on the same line as Morrells, real linens on the table and true place settings don't happen around here anymore...

I think that prior to Morrell's, there was a bar and restaurant in that location. Or am I just imagining that? Not an ethnic bar...just your standard bar and restaurant. I don't believe it lasted very long.

I don't think anything has lasted very long in that location in recent years, which is why I'm surprised no one has said anything about the price tag. It was interesting to me it's listed for nearly $1 million. The building is old and appears a bit run down, so that must be due to the location, right?

La Cubana was NOT a teen club lol! Maybe that is why those grown men were in there. If it was a teen club, they wouldn't have needed a liquor license. Therefore, when they lost theirs, they would have stayed open and probably still be open today!

Like someone said early something for the kids.. A place like a Cosmic Bowling or nice skating rink, or a Putt Putt with Go Carts like Magic Mountain! Not just a game room.. they fail after awhile.. something the teens can do to stay out of trouble!!!!!!

Franchise product is bought in keeping uniformity and a franchise fee is paid that is pooled for advertising, product development, etc, etc....Profit is what the local owner banks locally & the bank loans out to others who shop locally...

I think a fun spot for kids, like roller skating or laser tag, is greatly needed here. As for food places, I really want a Panda Express in C'ville.

What Catersville could use is a Drive-in Movie Thearters. It's a wonderful idea for the family. Children would enjoy going on dates. Watches movie in the comfort of you own vechile space. Drive-Moive theatre for this community would be an excellent choice. Last idea is to start an Retro Fitness Center. www.retrofitness.com

I would love to have a Po Folks or a Golden Corral. Because they've close the Ryans on Hwy 41. That would be nice.

It was also "Cafe 1120" back in the mid-late 1980's. I think most new restaurants like Olive Garden & Steak and Shake will be going along Main Street between I-75 and JFH, or down by LakePointe, not along the old & run down Tennessee Street corridor- I think Fudrucker's failure ensured that.

I think it should be something for the teens, but the price is so high that nobody is going to do anything like that because they won't really profit from it. Plus from the last time I was there it was La Cubana and the place is really ran down.
