Tumble Into Summer with Devilrays
“Kids come from as far as California to take our classes. We want to have fun and get work done at the same time. This really is the best program for your buck.” — Nicole Scott, All-Star Coach
Summer time has fallen upon Cartersville in a rush of 90-degree temperatures, beckoning swimming pools, and yes, hundreds of energized and vacation-starved kids out of school.
So the question this year and every year since the invention of organized summer-time activities is what will the kids do this summer to stay busy?
Luckily for moms of both the working and stay-at-home persuasion, Cartersville has many opportunities to get the youngsters out of the house and into a hobby.
Cartersville Patch is geared up to present a new idea every week of the summer.
There are few things in life more delightful and more overwhelming than a play date of bouncy, giggly little girls. With seemingly boundless amounts of energy, summer time presents a hay day of trampoline and cartwheel opportunities for young girls.
This year, why not explore the possibility of taking all that energy and focusing it into the sports of cheerleading and gymnastics?
Cartersville’s Devilray All-Stars gym is all geared up for summer camp and classes.
Devilray All-Stars is an all-star cheerleading and gymnastics gym located in the center of Cartersville. It offers classes for children ages 18 months to 18 years. Both competitive and recreational classes in gymnastics and cheerleading are available to any age and skill set.
Summer camp are either a full- or half-day and include not only instruction time, but learning opportunities like counting blocks for ages 4 and up. Large recreational inflatables are provided to the kids and as well as lots of other fun activities.
Summer classes this year are being offered on an optional pay-per-class basis so that parents can schedule around other summer activities and family budgets.
There is no registration time limit, as payments can be made in advance or per class.
All levels of experience are accepted and there are teams that need to be filled at every skill level. Whether it be cheerleading or gymnastics, there is something for everyone at every age.
Classes for younger participants are divided out by age. Children 18 months to 2 years old participate in parent-child classes. At 3 years old, children begin to attend class by themselves and are with children their age up to age 5. Children 6 and up are divided out by skill level, but stay within a close range of participants their own age.
“First and foremost we’re a Christian-based gym,” said All-Star director and coach Nicole Scott. “There is no cussing allowed or anything offensive or inappropriate. We try to encourage good morals and dedication. We expect hard workers.”
And that kind of discipline pays off. Devilrays is known across the country for its tumbling courses.
“Kids come from as far as California to take our classes,” said Scott. “We want to have fun and get work done at the same time. This really is the best program for your buck.”
