Taylor, Stewart Win in Runoffs
Steve Taylor is Bartow County's next sole commissioner, while Steve Stewart will be tax commissioner.
More than 8,000 Bartow voters took to the polls in the Republican primary runoff, selecting Steve Taylor and Steve Stewart as the victors.
Taylor, who Jan. 1 will be Bartow County's new sole commissioner, beat out challenger Mike Bearden with more than 60 percent of the votes.
"We’ve had a good run. We’ve worked for seven months. We’ve worked hard, we’ve had a lot of support. Ran against four great candidates, great citizens of Bartow County and I appreciate each one of them offering themselves for service," Taylor told The Daily Tribune News.
Taylor got 5,212 votes, or 60.49 percent, to Bearden's 3,405, or 39.51 percent, according to the Secretary of State's website.
Stewart beat challenger Vicki Beck with 5,374 votes, or 63.52 percent, to Beck's 3,086 votes, or 36.48 percent.

Congratulations Steves. Steve Taylor don't raise my damn taxes since you wouldn't sign off tax pledge. I'm about tired of voting in the county commissioners race, I think I will just skip over that race in the future. Plus I will be voting for the multi commission when it comes up on the ballot for a vote. I'm tired of the sole commissioner set up.
