Spending Resolution, Charter Application on BOE Agenda
The Bartow County Board of Education meets at 6 p.m.
The Bartow County Board of Education will decide tonight if it will approve a spending resolution, which will enable the school system to spend money in July before a budget for fiscal year 2013 is approved.
Chief Financial Officer Todd Hooper said he has yet to receive the final allotment sheets from the state and final tax digest numbers from the local tax assessor's office necessary to finalize the school system's budget. And, the tax digest numbers will determine if the school system will need to increase its millage rate for the next year, Hooper said.
The board also is expected to vote to submit a charter application for the proposed Bartow County College and Career Academy. The school will be a public school but set up as an autonomous, not for profit corporation.
The Board of Education meets at 6 p.m. at its office on Gilreath Road. The complete agenda is attached.
