Updated: Patrol Lieutenant Pleads Guilty

Patrolman Jeff Rogers was sentenced to 10 years of probation in the family violence incident.

Jeff Rogers today pleaded guilty to charges related to the July incident, and received a 10-year sentence, all of which can be served on probation, according to . Rogers agreed to give up his law enforcement certification.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Jonathan Rogers said Sheriff Clark Millsap yesterday fired former patrol officer and lieutenant Jeff Rogers, who faces criminal charges in connection with a Sunday domestic dispute. Jonathan Rogers is of no relation to Jeff Rogers.

Alcohol apparently was involved in the domestic dispute that ended in the arrest of a local deputy.

When other deputies responded to a 911 call from the couple's home, Lt. Jeff Rogers allegedly had an M-16 in his lap and another firearm nearby.

Reported Earlier Monday

authorities jailed one of their own for his alleged involvement in a domestic dispute late last night.

According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, Jeffery Todd Rogers, 41, who was off duty, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act, terroristic threats and acts, two counts of pointing a gun at another person and three counts of cruelty to children in the second degree.

He is currently in jail awaiting a bond hearing on the charges.

Millsap said Rogers, a recently promoted lieutenant in the department's Patrol Division, has been placed on administrative leave until the conclusion of the investigation.
