Residents of Georgia and more than a dozen other states have filed petitions to secede from the United States, according to media reports.
Residents of Alabama, New York, Michigan, Texas and other states have filed the petitions under the "We The People" program, featured on the White House website, according to the Huffington Post.
The Georgia petition, which already has more than 22,000 signatures, reads in part:
"...Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government..."
The petitions come in the wake of President Obama winning a second term November 6 over Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
According to the Huffington Post, The White House website explains of the review process for "We the People" petitions that get 25,000 signatures in a 30-day period: "If a petition meets the signature threshold, it will be reviewed by the Administration and we will issue a response."

People need to get a grip. Creating such a petition because of an election is foolish. If you don't like the way things turned out then get your opinions out there and convince others to vote your way. Threatening to secede because you didn't get your way is childish. "If we don't play by my rule's I am taking my ball and going home!!" We are American's - United We Stand - Divided We Fall. Its not just something we put on flags ... its how things work. Instead of trying to divide - try working together and get things done. If you don't like it then change it through the system.

Our country tried this before (1861) and it did not turn out so well, but on the other hand 1930's Germany did not do anything and it did not turn out so well either.

We should all and I mean ALL registered voters should get behind all representatives and start impeachment proceedings against obama and recall against pelosi and reid and biden,but don`t let it turn out like clinton and nixon. Also, if you are not registered to vote, then,SHUT UP. until you are and have voted. And don`t wait til Jan 2013 to do this.
