Redesign Delays LakePoint Wake Park

Terminus, the wakeboard park developers say will be one of the country's largest and most unique, will not open this summer.

Construction of the cable wakeboard park planned for LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center has been delayed due to design changes, Rome News-Tribune reports.

Originally scheduled to open this summer, the park will encompass more than 17 acres and include three lakes with cable systems, Wake Park Atlanta said in a January press release.

But project partner Austin Singleton told the newspaper plans for a bigger wakeboard park and a redesign slowed progress, although work on the development is moving forward.

Following a nationwide contest, officials announced in March the park's official name: Terminus Wake Park.

While LakePoint—a 1,400-acre development to include a 300-acre sports complex for baseball, lacrosse and soccer tournaments; business, retail and entertainment offerings; and recreation and other areas—is set to be a game changer for Bartow County and beyond, Terminus' custom obstacles will be a first of a kind.

The park’s signature will be an elaborate series of rails and obstacles, many of which are not available in the United States.
