Police Investigating Whether Murder, Shooting Incident Are Connected
The City of Stone Mountain Police Department is investigating whether two incidents are related: a murder on Aug. 31 at The Lakes Apartments, and a gunshot victim being dropped off at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur within the same time frame of the murder.
According to Stone Mountain City police, they responded to a person shot call on Friday, Aug. 31, at the apartment complex located at 5100 W. Mountain St., where they found Darius Myles Grays, 34, killed by a single gunshot to the lower abdomen.
Funeral For Decatur Woman Who Died of Bacterial Infection
Hundreds of friends and family gathered last weekend to celebrate the life of Hannah Rinehart of Decatur, 32, who died Wednesday from a rare bacterial infection.
The funeral was held at North Lanier Baptist Church in Cumming on Saturday. Hannah Rinehart was a patient care technician in DeKalb County. She and her husband, Mark, lived in Decatur.
"She is celebrating," Mark wrote on a Facebook page in her honor, "and I am thankful for God allowing me to have the privilege of being her husband while she was here on this Earth."
Hannah Mark met at a church in Duluth. They were both part of a Young Professionals class—a fancy name for singles, according to Rinehart—and noticed each other immediately.
Man Charged in Georgia Tech Robbery
The Georgia Tech school police have charged Steven Terry with armed robbery, burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in connection with a much publicized on-campus incident in early July.
The arrest and indictment comes after an intensive investigation led by Georgia Tech police with the assistance of Crime Stoppers and the Atlanta Police Department.
Corn Maze Resembles Chipper Jones
Chipper Jones is spending the Halloween season in Loganville this year—well, at least his likeness is.
The 2012 corn maze at Corn Dawgs has been designed in the likeness of the popular Atlanta Brave. Last year, the maze was designed as a tribute to another Atlanta staple—Coca-Cola.
