Sneiderman Granted $500,000 Bond
A $500,000 bond was set for Andrea Sneiderman during a Tuesday court appearance in DeKalb County.
She will be arraigned on Sept. 6 in the murder of her husband, Russell Sneiderman. He was gunned down in Nov. 2010 by her former GE Energy supervisor, Hemy Neuman, the ex-East Cobb resident who is serving life without parole.
GA Militiamen Sentenced on Explosives Charges
Two North Georgia militiamen were sentenced to five years in federal prison on charges of conspiring to obtain an unregistered explosive device and silencer.
Frederick Thomas, 73, of Cleveland, and Dan Roberts, 68, of Toccoa, were sentenced today, Aug. 22, by U.S. District Judge Richard W. Story to the prison terms, to be followed by three years supervised release. They were found guilty of the charges on April 10.
U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said: “These defendants didn’t just talk about killing government officials and law enforcement officers, they purchased equipment, including a silencer and what they thought were explosive devices, to carry out their plans. Now they will spend five years in prison.”
Talenti Gelato Plant, 100 Jobs Coming to Marietta
Talenti Gelato has acquired a former Kroger ice cream production facility in Marietta. The expansion represents the addition of up to 100 jobs in Marietta and the state of Georgia.
Talenti plans to maintain its existing plant in Dallas but relocate its primary production headquarters to the Marietta Industrial Park and begin production later this year.
“The country’s best-selling gelato will be right at home in one of America’s greatest communities, so hello Marietta,” said Bob Burns, vice president of operations for Talenti, who will be moving to the area to manage the new facility.
A 70-Year-Old Tortoise Reunites with Forsyth Owners
Tortellini has safely returned home after going missing last week. The 70-year-old tortoise was spotted in a neighborhood near the home of worried owner Elexis Hayes and her family.
"I'm not a sissy girl, but I cried like a big ol' baby when I got him back," said Hays.
