Video: DEA Slays International Drug Ring with Help From Sheriff's Dept.
What started as a local drug street case, ultimately reached into Mexico, Ecuador and Peru. The investigation began with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department and as it expanded, the Marietta-Cobb-Smyrna Drug Task Force became and other agencies became involved.
“Today, DEA and our law enforcement partners delivered a major assault against a well-established Mexican cartel group and other major components of their criminal networks," Harry S. Sommers, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Atlanta Field Division, said. "These cartels are the pipeline for many dangerous drugs in our country and are responsible for many of the acts of violence in Mexico today."
Man Expected to Plead Guilty in Beating Girlfriend With Dead Dog
A Sandy Springs man accused of killing his girlfriend’s pet Pomeranian and then using the dead animal as a weapon to beat the woman was expected to enter a guilty plea on Thursday morning, a statement from the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office said.
Emmanuel Alfredo Tadeo was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated animal cruelty, animal cruelty and battery in the May 19 incident.
New Details About Human Remains Found in Lawrenceville
Investigators now know more about the remains of a woman found behind a home in unincorporated Lawrenceville. However, they still do not know who she is.
On Sunday, neighbors found human remains in a wooded area behind 1414 Azalea Drive. Police are treating this case as a "suspicious death."
Initial examinations determined the body was that of a black woman. The Medical Examiner was able to narrow the age range of the 19 to 22. They also revealed the woman was between 5-foot-8-inches and 6-feet tall.
ICE Accidentally Deports Man, Sends Him Back
A Mableton man who was accidentally deported in March and then brought back to the U.S. now faces deportation again on Aug. 13. Supporters were holding a press conference about the situation on Wednesday.
Juan Carlos Guevara, a 2010 Pebblebrook High graduate, was hit by a drunk driver in June 2011.
When police arrived on the scene, Guevara was arrested for driving without a license.
Guevara paid his immigration bond, was released to return home, and he waited to hear about his court date.
