Cops Seeks Fugitive who Allegedly Sped Off, Fled on Foot
A Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputy Saturday spotted Christopher Joseph Harris, 33, of Acworth, who is accused of battery on his roommate.
Bartow County Sheriff's Office adds a mugshot each week to its list of Bartow's Most Wanted, people who have been accused of crimes, not convicted. They are presumed innocent until the court system settles their cases.
Bartow County sheriff's deputies say Christopher Joseph Harris, 33, a fugitive, eluded authorities Saturday by speeding away as a deputy attempted a traffic stop, then fleeing on foot.
Harris, whose last known address was on Westwood Lane in Acworth's Red Top Mountain Estates neighborhood, is wanted on a battery charge in connection with a Nov. 19 altercation between he and a roommate.
A patrol deputy Saturday about 5:15 p.m. spotted a black Chevrolet Blazer driven by a man they later identified as Harris, who was not wearing his seat belt.
When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, Harris allegedly sped up and turned onto Roberts Drive off Glade Road, a dead end street. Before authorities caught up, Harris had allegedly jumped out of the SUV and ran into the woods.
He now has a second warrant for his arrest on an obstruction charge.
Anyone with information on Harris' whereabouts should call 911 and report he is wanted by BCSO. The department's phone line for anonymous tips is 770-606-TIPS (8477) and now tipsters can report information via the department's Facebook page.
