Duo Ambushes, Robs Elderly Man, Granddaughter
Two men with red bandanas covering their faces demanded money and valuables from the victims, who were in their car near Burnt Hickory Food Mart in Cartersville.
A 92-year-old man said he handed over lottery tickets he and and his 21-year-old granddaughter had just purchased during an armed robbery Thursday outside a Cartersville store.
The local residents said they were leaving Burnt Hickory Food Mart about 4:15 p.m. when two men wearing red bandanas over their faces appeared from behind bushes and jerked open the car doors, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report.
The men, each of whom held a gun in his hand, yelled at the victims to stop the car and "give them everything."
The younger victim reported one of the robbers said, "Tell your old man to give me everything or I'll kill him."
The victims handed over an iPhone, a wallet, $100 in cash and two winning lottery tickets.
