Man Wearing Wig Robs Shoney's

The nervous man with a goatee forced employees and witnesses on the floor and to the front of the restaurant and demanded they open a time-locked safe.

A man witnesses said may have been wearing a blond wig walked into Shoney's, forcing a woman back inside, and held a gun on several women.

According to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office report, about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, the man waved the gun in the face of a woman who had been walking out of the eatery, then forced everyone to lie down next to the safe.

Acting nervously and continually asking if anyone had called 911, the women said the man demanded their cell phones and money from the safe.

When an employee told the man the safe was on a time delay and police were on the way, he grabbed money from the register, a woman's car keys and drove off in the stolen car, which officials found a short time later.

Officers were unable to find the man, who is described as 5-foot-7-inches tall and 250 pounds with a full brown goatee, and wearing blue jeans, a T-shirt and red hat.

He got away with $565, $1 of which was recovered by authorities. Investigators are working the case.
