Updated: Man Found Dead Outside, Partially Clothed, Identified

Bartow County Sheriff's Office authorities say further investigation of the incident on Middlebrook Drive in Cartersville will rely on the medical examiner's report.

Updated Tuesday, Jan. 22

Bartow County Coroner Joel Guyton identified the deceased as Evan Hill, 25, of Middlebrook Drive, and said authorities have "several suspicions" as to Hill's cause of death.

Guyton said he expects the results of an autopsy, including the cause of death, in about 6 months. His office is not conducting an investigation.

Original Report

Bartow County authorities are investigating the death of a 25-year-old man found outside, partially clothed.

Sheriff Clark Millsap said in a news release that at 11:02 this morning, deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to 47 Middlebrook Drive in response to a possible death.

They found the deceased man "outside partially clothed," but at this time, investigators don't expect foul play. The cause of death is not known.

Millsap said further investigation will rely on results from a medical examiner's report and BCSO has not released the man's name has, pending verification of the notification of next of kin.

Bartow County Scanner reports the man didn't make it home last night and was found in a yard unclothed.

Steve,
The man found behind Bodyflex had several health issues, but did die of natural causes. We at Bethel Worship Center knew him and cared very deeply for him. We talked with him at least once a week.
I used to think people that were homeless were just too sorry to work...not so, a lot of circumstances go into many who have no choice but to live the best way they can. I wish I had the liberty to share some of the heartbreaking stories some of these people go through.
We "all" are sometimes too quick to judge people by how we perceive them to be according to their exterior appearance.
The best thing to do for any of these people is to pray for them. Jesus is still the answer.

@heartbroken theres not a day that goes by that i dont think about the man that got shot at the carwash and wonder if the police is close to catching the person who shot him. My prayers are with your family.
@Margie i know that not all homeless people are not sorry and i have known that for years. Many of them are mentally ill. But most of them have no business on the street.

@ heart broken Keep the police on their heals as much as possible. My guess is that the killer lives within a mile are 2 of that carwash but it could have been someone else.

What would you men do if you lost your job, women if your husband died or left you with 3 or 4 kids? House lost, no family to help, you live in your car or woods. IF, you can get a menial job , ( need permanent address) you make a choice: food or shelter. You get a ticket for holding a sign that says "HOMELESS: NEED WORK" (police just doing their job) These are real life situations, what would you do if this were you? Except by the grace and mercy of God, there go I. I just hate it when someone is found dead, people just assume that they are lazy drunks or drug addicts. I could tell you some fantastic stories of real people that are real survivors. They may not look or smell so good, but they are wonderful, loving, people. My heart goes out to families of crime (murder in our family too) Many perpetrators are mentally ill? How do we get these folks the help they need? Why do we keep standing by and complaining about the horrific crimes they commit? I know I don't pray enough. I am not saying I have all the answers. I have more questions than anyone, but if I am not part of the solution, then I become part of the problem. I have heard many testimonies about people in mental institutions with no hope of recovery. But because folks were dedicated to fast and pray, they were totally set free from insanity . Jesus told us in Matthew 25: what to do. I'm not trying to preach to anybody. I don't want to be a spectator, I want to be light in a dark world. God Bless.

@Margie Amen! We need to fast and pray for our family, friends, church family, community, and nation and share the love of Jesus to everyone, especially those hurting around us. This man was a family member of mine, we are praying for answers. And i pray for God to touch Cartersville and everyone in it.

It's upsetting to me that this man found in Middlebrook wasn't helped before this. Many calls were made on his behalf as this man was troubled to say the least. Unfortunately I believe because he lived in this neighborhood he was just disregarded. A damn shame the last call was to report his death.

Heartbroken,

I was not referring to RJ. I was asking about the young man that this article is about. At the time they had only released that a partialy nude body was found. I didn't know if he had harmed himself or what. I did not mean to hurt your feelings or offend you in any way. My condolences for your loss and I assure you that if I knew any thing about it, i would have the courage to come forth about it. As a resident of Bartow County and mother of 3, our streets are not safe with people like that walking arouind. I will tell you this much, I stopped at that same carwash over the summer(it's one of the last ones you can actually rinsh your car yourself at), and I left with soap still on my vehicle because I had very uneasy feeling with all the people roaming around watching me if you will. I pray for you and your family and hope that justice is soon brought for RJ. God Bless you!

So, he was trouble for that neighborhood? I know since his accident he was slow in alot of ways. I just don't see how the neighborhood was threatened by a 25 year old that was mentally challenged from a brain injury. Unless your telling me that this is a bad neighborhood and the authorities did not take the calls serious.

Listen sandy, I'm not going back and forth with you. I'm saying he obviously had problems, would fall out in the road way and needed help and after calls made and no help given by the authorities this was the end result. There were people in the complex who tried to lend him a hand and

keep him from getting hurt but not once did the authorities do much of anything. That's what I'm saying... Hope it's clear now!! Let me know if you need more of a break down for you

OK, Mary, since you seem to know so much about this situation. Let me break this down for you. Evan's family was not aware of any of the things that you are speaking of. We were under the impression that this is a home for people in his situation. After his accident he had a brain injury and was never the same again. I was just asking to try and understand what happened to Evan. If you only knew the adversity this young man faced. Let me tell you in his words and I quote "MY NAME IS EVAN HILL.I GRADUATED FROM MURRAY CO. HIGH SCHOOL IN '06.I WAS SUPPOSED 2 GRADUATE IN '05.I HAD A PRETTY BAD CAR WRECK MY JUNIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL.I SPENT ALMOST ALL OF MY FIRST 12TH GRADE YEAR IN THE HOSPITAL BUT I WENT BACK AND GRADUATED THO!I HAVEN'T MADE IT 2 COLLEGE YET BUT IT IS N MY PLANS!I REALLY HAD A LOT GOING 4 ME IT JUST GOES 2 SHOW U HOW FAST THINGS CAN CHANGE!" So you see I hope it's clear to all of you that we did not know that there were problems where he was at. My family is very upset with this situation,

You seem to be missing my point once again. My problem with this situation is the lack of care he and the other people in that house are getting by those who run it and the police. I live here and see it every day. So I'm sure you are upset. I'm upset and maybe now something will be done about it. My point was and still is that its a damn shame that he didn't get the help that deserved. Not from anyone involved in the home he was in or the authorities. So before you call yourself going off on someone you should have someone check it out. I could tell you things that would make you throw up. If only we knew of someone else to reach out to maybe this could of been prevented. I am sorry for your family and most of all for Evan. But please you're mistaken if you thin
k I was putting him down. He needed help and what pisses me off is that the only places we knew to turn to were dead ends. If you want more info. Let me know

I am so tired of people referring to Middlebrook as a Bad area. There is far less crime in middlebrook than a lot of bartow county area's. What defines a Bad area to you?. I Have lived in some of the nicest looking neighborhoods across the USA in my lifetime and you just have no control of what might happen. I do know that several police officers and their families live in Middlebrook and not because it was needed but because its an alright place to live with some very nice homes. One of two incidences does not make a bad neighborhood. Parent's raising hoodlums, grown ups acting like the world is one big drug. Abusing property, Being racially divided, and of course the right management of any of these residential properties. That is what makes a neighborhood The whole idea of the authorities not being able to do much for this young man that passed away not so long ago is also far fetched. There is only so much the law enforcement can do. It is our duty as civilians to watch out for each other and try and prevent harm but not all situations are easy to resolve. I think folks need to stop stereo typing based on fear or gossip and get to know your neighborhoods.

Law Enforcement is exactly that - law enforcement. They are not social workers. There are only a couple of places in Bartow County that they can take people who need help and there are certain conditions that must be met before a person will be accepted at those places. That young man would not have been accepted. Trust me. Law Enforcement gets just as frustrated as anyone else. You cannot take a young man like that to jail. He has committed no crime and his civil rights would be violated by doing so. The Good Neighbor Shelter will not take them because someone who goes there has to be able to find a job within a certain period of time. You cannot take them to Cartersville Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation because a person like that has an actual disability and does not need to be evaluated. Why do people always want to blame Law Enforcement when something isn't done? I get so sick and tired of hearing that. Why not take him into your home and give him a warm place to stay and feed him and clothe him. You want everyone else to do something and you want to blame everyone else for the problem but you are not willing to lift a finger to help your fellow man in need.
