Man Airlifted from Old Alabama Crash

Georgia State Patrol officials say the Taylorsville man was charged with failure to maintain his lane of travel.

A Taylorsville man yesterday was injured and flown to Atlanta Medical Center in an air ambulance following a crash that stifled Old Alabama Road traffic near Cartersville's airport.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said 50-year-old Anthony Lewis Bryant, who was driving a Jeep Cherokee westbound on Old Alabama, left the roadway about 3:45 p.m., traveled down an embankment and hit a tree.

Old Alabama was blocked near Woodland High School, prompting a tweet warning of the road closure. Fire crews stopped traffic to clear the scene and rescue Bryant, who was trapped in the vehicle, The Daily Tribune News reports.
