LakePoint To Bring 20 Restaurants

Officials, who Friday held an open house, say more than 1 million square feet of mixed-use and retail space and about 4,000 hotel rooms will accompany fields and sporting facilities.

The massive sports development now underway in Emerson will bring about 20 new restaurants and 4,000 hotel rooms to Bartow County and within minutes of Cartersville, according to officials who Friday held an open house for invited guests.

Which restaurants and retailers would you like to see in Emerson? Tell us in the comments.

LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center partners—including former Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox, current Braves Manager Fredi Gonzales and Kansas City Royals Manager Ned Yost—hosted development partners, local dignitaries and "friends of LakePoint" at the construction site trailer at 755 Highway 293, officials said in a press release. Guests got an up close view of LakePoint property and met partners and tenants, such as Perfect Game and Braveheart Sports Events, a partnership between North Atlanta Soccer Association and LB3 Lacrosse.

Officials added LakePoint—the privately-funded, more than 1,400-acre mixed-use development set to include a core 262-acre sports complex to play host to baseball, lacrosse and soccer tournaments for 10 months each year—will include more than 1 million square feet of mixed-use and retail space.

Called "the biggest thing Bartow has seen," the development is expected to bring thousands of jobs, becoming one of the largest employers in northwest Georgia; a 17-acre wakeboard park; a number of retailers, possibly including Bass Pro Shops; and Braves Spring Training.

“The main goal of this project is to balance mission and margin," Cox said in the release. “First and foremost, [the] LakePoint project will enhance the physical, emotional and psychological well-being of our youth—our future—by participation in team sports. And, it will develop the ultimate youth sports destination in the world, bringing unparalleled economic impact to the local community and region.”

In addition to a 114,000-square-foot indoor facility for lacrosse, soccer, wrestling, baseball, volleyball, gymnastics and cheerleading events, the development is set to include 16 baseball and 14 lacrosse/soccer fields for tournaments, a FIFA II-certified field for NCAA and international soccer events, and the world’s biggest synthetic turf sports complex by Sportexe, a division of Shaw Industries.

LakePoint also will be home to three major tenants: Perfect Game USA, the “gold-standard” resource for baseball recruiting for collegiate, minor and major league scouts; LB3 Lacrosse, one of the nation’s premier organizers of Lacrosse camps, clinics and tournament travel teams; and North Atlanta Soccer Association, the largest youth soccer organizations in the southeast.

With the development, Bartow and Emerson will become "the unparalleled sports destination in the U.S.," officials say. The first pitch, kick and shot are slated for 2013.

At least ONE fine dining restaurant. choose it carefully and court them to set up. Perhaps like the old City Grille in Atlanta, or one of the Peasant type restaurants...D Morgan's could have a good location there

Please. no O'Charleys, no Applebees, no Chilis. How about a restaurant where they won't let you wear hats and camoflauge. Or how about a restaurant where there are no children under 12 allowed. How about Brio's or Houstons, something with a dress code.

Tin Drum, Jimmy Johns, Chipotle, Mellow Mushroom, Taco Mac, Kani House, Stoney River, Sugo, Octane or Land of a Thousand Hills (coffee), Doc Green's, Suno Desserts, Chick-fil-A : Places with healthier options, as I'm recommended to read the next article "Obesity in America, the 'Fattest' Country" in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen...

Please, no Olive Garden, Applebee's, Red Lobster, Maggiano's, Chili's, Macaroni Grill, or any other chain you find at EVERY other suburban corner in the United States. The places I named are big enough to have the capital to open a new location, but are unique enough to add value to the experience. Thanks.

Bartow/ Lakepoint needs the following restaurants...Logans Steak House, Mellow Mushroom, The Atlanta Fish Market, Trader Vics, Ruth's Chris Steak House, No Masi Cantina, Jasons Deli, Woodfire Grill, Carrabba's Italian Grill,The Cheesecake Factory. It would give a better choice and selection/ answer to the question asked.." Where do you want to go for Dinner?", cause right now Bartow/ Cartersville doesn't have a big selection or choices.

How about some actual decent restaurants like an Outback, PF Changs, Maggianoss, or Olive Garden. We have enough redneck places in the area already. I guess Bass Pro Shops would be okay for the redneck group. I still would like to see a place where no camo attire was allowed and no hats were permitted and no bib overalls and where a bath had to have been taken in the past twenty four hours and where the women were not allowed to wear sweat pants and had to have actually run a comb through their hair before they.came into the place. Oh yeah, if they wear dentures they actually had to have them in. I swear, you go into some of these restaurants around here and it looks like the Culhanes and Beverly Hillbillies are having a family reunion.

Seriously, this may sound harsh but they need to bring at least one restaurant where a family with a zoo full of undisciplined kids can't afford to eat. Some place a couple can go for an nice quiet evening of romantic dining that's going to run you $80-$100 or so for a meal for two where you are expected to dress up for the occasion and really enjoy getting out for a couple of hours. We really don't have that in Bartow.
