Lakeside Pines, Shoreline Poster Wins

Cartersville High School's Evan Lanham designed this year's Great Lake Allatoona Cleanup promotional poster.

A Cartersville High School student designed the poster for this year's Great Lake Allatoona Cleanup, which will be distributed in the three counties surrounding the lake to promote the environmental and educational effort.

Evan Lanham topped a field of 12 designs with his lakeside view of pine trees and shoreline. Students instructed in Graphic Design by Valerie Webb competed in the poster design contest with four finalists.

"The committee decided that the image and message of Evan's poster most closely represented the message that the Great Lake Allatoona Cleanup wants to convey: to recognize the beauty and value of the lake and to educate the community about environmental stewardship," member Carole Miller said.

Organizers for this year's Sept. 22 cleanup recently began their fundraising and volunteer recruiting efforts. Each year, more than 3,500 volunteers collect tons of garbage along 250 miles of lake shoreline.
