Kittle a School Board Contender

Euharlee resident and Cartersville businessman Fred Kittle says he'll qualify for the District 4 seat currently held by Wanda Cagle Gray.

Following fireworks at a Bartow school board meeting, former Chamber of Commerce chairman and current county GOP first vice chair Fred Kittle announced a run for the District 4 seat currently held by Wanda Cagle Gray.

In a press release, Kittle said he'll qualify as a Republican on Wednesday, the first day of the three-day qualifying period. It's unclear if Gray will seek another term, but those fireworks indicate the divide between her and other board members continues.

Kittle didn't address the issue or other concerns facing the school board, such as budget cuts and a property tax hike proposal.

"I believe I will be a positive and innovative member of the school board," Kittle said in the release. "I look forward to serving the citizens of Bartow County."

Kittle, a father of six, has been a leader through his work with the Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce and is currently employed with WESCO Distribution, the release says. He is married to Lynn Kittle, and while his oldest children have either graduated or attend college, his youngest is a student at Woodland Middle School.

PEOPLE! Do not blindly elect someone. Get their views on everything! The path of current school board (excluding Ms. Gray) seems to be to destroy public education in favor of private (or choice) schools. Of course, then there won't be a school board for these people to be on...

Fred is a good guy and should do a good job as long as he remains an independent voice and doesn't get sucked into Davis Nelson's board clique.

Fred, though I find you a likable person, as you will recall from our several conversations, I approached you with my concerns over a well entrenched organized public corruption scheme against the interest of our neighbors and citizens in this County. And, as I recall, I asked you to so inform your fellow grand jurors of the matter and arrange for me to appear and present my evidence. After the grand jury adjourned, I inquired of you about the matter, and you informed me that “you forgot”. Your “forgetfulness” has deprived every one of your neighbors in the County of their “right to know” whether there is any evidence or not, and it brings into question your ability to comply with an official oath of office. Choices and consequences is not a “game” in real everyday life, is it? I’m certain that your “forgetfulness” was a welcome relief to the Joe Campbell, Shep Howell, Clark Millsap, Boyd Pettit, and a few others. In the event that you are elected to the position which you seek, should you encounter a situation which might seem questionable or outright illegal, will you possess the intestinal fortitude, and the presence of both mind and character, to confront such conduct on behalf of your constituents, as the current member does, or will you plead ignorance or demonstrate a lack of care, as other Board members have, and just let it pass?
