First Cane Signs with Georgia Highlands Chargers Baseball

Ty Fowler is the first Cartersville High School student to sign with the local college's new baseball team.

The first Purple Hurricane to sign on to play ball at Georgia Highlands College is Ty Fowler, according to an @GHCBaseball post on Twitter.

The Cartersville High School student made it official early today, on National Signing Day—the first day a high school senior can sign a binding letter of intent for college sports.

Georgia Highlands began its sports program in 2011, and hired a head baseball coach last year.

Recruits for the 2013-2014 team, who appeared at a ceremonial January signing, include three other Cartersville natives, each of whom attends Woodland High School—John Hood, Camden McGill and Luke Patterson.
