A man shot and killed by U.S. Marshals at a Cartersville home was wanted in connection with a fatal Interstate 75 incident in Cobb County.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Thomas Franklin Truitt, 37, in connection with the March 21 hit-and-run that left a 59-year-old Kansas man dead, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Truitt, who federal authorities were trying to arrest Thursday night at the Old Old Alabama Road home, was charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, various drug violations and driving on a suspended license.

The Ranger native allegedly struck Norman Koehn and his van about 10 a.m. in Cobb County on I-75 at the Hickory Grove Road overpass. Police say Truitt ran from the scene and Koehn, who was standing beside his van in the emergency lane, died from the injuries, the newspaper reported.

A search of the Saturn Truitt was allegedly driving turned up meth, a scale, baggies and three types of prescription medications.
