Cartersville Man Injured in Dump Truck Crash
The 33-year-old man was ejected from the vehicle when a tire blew Thursday on Interstate 75 in Adairsville.
A local man was seriously injured Thursday when the dump truck he was driving blew a tire on Interstate 75 in Adairsville.
Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said Jackie Heath Hampton, 33, of Cartersville, was traveling north and crossed into the left lane after his left front tire blew out. The dump truck then hit the guardrail, traveling down the guardrail on its right side.
Hampton was ejected from the vehicle and airlifted to Chattanooga's Erlanger Hospital with serious injuries, Wright added.
He may have suffered the partial amputation of a limb in the 2:30 p.m. crash involving only the dump truck, which belongs to a local business, The Daily Tribune News reports.
Lanes of I-75, both north and southbound, were closed for about three hours and traffic detoured to allow an air ambulance to land and for clean-up, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office.
