Body of Second Drowning Victim Found

Cobb authorities recovered the body of 42-year-old Byron Kelly Brock of Acworth from Lake Allatoona earlier this morning. This has been the holiday weekend, and at least .

Investigators say Brock drowned Sunday evening near Acworth Beach, when he attempted to swim across a cove. Approximately 20 minutes later, Brock's family members realized they could no longer see him and called 911.

responded to the 911 call, and Cobb County officials as well as the Georgia Department of Natural Resources arrived at the scene immediately Sunday evening. Cobb divers continued searching this morning until the recovery of Brock's body shortly after 8 a.m.

Medical examiners are looking into the cause of death. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 770-499-3945.

This has been the second drowning in Lake Allatoona over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, and the fourth since the summer started. Bartow County authorities who went swimming and never resurfaced late Sunday afternoon.
