5 Things: Meetings, Marines and More
What do you need to know today? A lot happens in our not-so-little city, but we'll keep you informed.
1. Last night's chance of thunderstorms and rain carries over to this morning, but showers are more likely before 8 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. Expect a high near 93, mostly sunny skies and low near 65.
The rain could hit again, but it's more likely after 2 a.m.
2. The city council meets tonight at 6 for a work session and 7 for regular business. See the preview and agenda here.
3. Cartersville Schools leaders also gather tonight in a special called meeting at 5 p.m. to discuss bond refinancing. Officials are working to find an earlier payoff option that could remove the school system from debt by as early as 2015.
4. Check out the Booth Western Art Museum tonight from 5 to 8 for the Artist Guild's exhibition opening and the kickoff of the summer entertainment series.
5. The Etowah Valley Young Marines — the vision of which is to earn and preserve a reputation as a leader in youth development and drug demand reduction — are registering recruits tonight from 6 to 7:30 at the American Legion.
