5 Things: Groundbreaking, Commissioner's Meeting

What do you need to know today? A lot happens in our not-so-little city, but we'll keep you informed.

 

1. It's more likely to rain tonight than today, according to the National Weather Service. A small chance of thunderstorms continues throughout the day, but showers are more likely after 2 p.m. Expect a high near 92.

A better chance of storms continues tonight with a low near 65.

2. Bartow County Commissioner Clarence Brown will hold a public meeting at 10 a.m. in the Commissioner's Conference Room at the courthouse.

3. Georgia Highlands College is holding its groundbreaking ceremony for a new student center at the Cartersville campus at 11 a.m., which is scheduled to open in the fall of next year. Check back with Cartersville Patch this afternoon for video of the event.

4. Tonight's the night for a Moonlight Hike at Pine Mountain. Click here for the details, and watch for thunderstorms.

5. Locals have put a number of other events on our calendar, including Family Movie Night at Oak Leaf Church and a lunch-and-learn lecture at Bartow History Museum on the Northwest Georgia Textile Baseball League.
